Multiplication 1 focuses exclusively on mastering the standard algorithm for multiplication, one of the most important skills students need before entering upper elementary and middle school mathematics. This course is ideal for students who are still making frequent errors with multi-digit multiplication or who need additional practice organizing their work correctly.
Throughout the week, students will begin each lesson with a short review of multiplication facts and previously learned concepts. Instruction will emphasize proper digit alignment, place value understanding, regrouping, and strategies for checking answers using estimation.
On Friday, students will solve multiplication word problems that require them to apply the standard algorithm in real-world contexts, helping them connect computation skills to practical problem solving.
By the end of the course, students should be able to accurately and confidently solve multi-digit multiplication problems using the standard algorithm and apply those skills to real-world situations.
