Long Division 2 is designed for students entering grades 5–7 who are comfortable dividing by 1-digit numbers and are ready for more complex long division problems. This course focuses on two essential upper-elementary and middle school skills: dividing by 2-digit divisors and dividing decimals using the standard algorithm.
Each class begins with a short lesson or review of previously learned material, followed by guided examples, worksheet practice, and interactive reinforcement activities. Students learn how to estimate quotient digits, organize their work carefully, and use multiplication to check their answers.
On Friday, students solve challenging word problems involving 2-digit divisors and decimal division. These real-world applications help students determine when to interpret remainders, when to continue dividing into decimals, and how to explain their reasoning.
By the end of the course, students will be able to accurately divide by 2-digit divisors, divide decimals using the standard algorithm, and solve multi-step division word problems with confidence.
